Florissant flower preservatives - Post harvest flower treatment for cut flowers

Gypsophila

Introduction

Flowers cut in bud, such as Gypsophila, face major problems like vascular plugging, premature aging and flowering stagnation.

It is most important that vascular plugging does not occur. Only when vascular plugging is avoided the flowers can absorb the nutrients needed to force them into bloom. Clean water and the use of Florissant 400C New Formula can effectively solve this problem. It can be used in combination with sugar and Florissant 100 to prevent from premature aging and give full bloom.

Effects

FLORISSANT 400C New Formula suppresses bacterial growth thus preventing vascular plugging and stimulating the water uptake. Sugar should be added to force the buds into bloom. In combination with Florissant 100 it protects from ethylene. Consequently premature shrinking, petal drop and incomplete flowering are avoided; vase-life is prolonged and the ornamental value is improved.

Dosage

Shake before use and add 2ml FLORISSANT 400C New Formula per liter water. Stir gently and use the solution for a maximum of 1 week.

Note: Always use clean buckets and clean tap water. Never mix an old solution with a fresh one. The product gives an acid solution which should be used in contact with acid-proof pumps, hoses, etc. only. Avoid any contact of the concentrate and the ready-to-use solution with unprotected ferriferous metals.

Treatment

Prepare the FLORISSANT 400C New Formula solution just before harvesting. Place the flowers in the solution immediately after cutting. Do not use water or chlorine first. The treatment time varies from 2 to 72 hours depending on the maturity stage at harvesting (see table below). If buds need to be forced into bloom add sugar. If ethylene protection is required, mix with Florissant 100. This will turn into a cloudy solution.

Neutralization of residual solutions

Residual solutions of Florissant 400C New Formula with or without sugar may be drained off in the sewer. If mixed with Florissant 100 neutralization is necessary because the residual solution contains traces of silver. The process is explained in our special instructions “How to neutralize the residual solutions of FLORISSANT 100”.

Packing

FLORISSANT 400C New Formula is available in jerry cans; 4x5 liter per carton.

Precautions

FLORISSANT 400C New Formula should be stored in a dry and dark place. Keep the product cool but frost-free. Avoid contacts from eyes and skin with the concentrated product.

FLORISSANT 400C New Formula is manufactured with the greatest care and is kept under constant laboratory surveillance. The manufacturer cannot be held liable if the product is applied incorrectly.
