Florissant flower preservatives - post harvest flower treatment for cut flowers

Rose

Introduction

Roses are the most widely grown cut flowers used for ornamental purposes. After harvesting roses face major problems such as vascular plugging, premature aging, ‘bent-neck’ and flowering stagnation. Insufficient hygiene, high temperatures and leaving the flowers dry too long will increase these problems.

After cutting roses certain processes within and outside the stem can cause vascular plugging, resulting in insufficient water uptake. It is most important to avoid vascular plugging and to stimulate the water uptake. Otherwise ornamental value and vase life will be reduced drastically. Hygiene measures, optimal temperature and hydration with FLORISSANT 600 can effectively solve these problems.

Effects

FLORISSANT 600 is a hydrating solution. It stimulates water uptake by neutralizing harmful processes within and outside the stems and avoiding vascular plugging. Consequently premature aging, ‘bent-neck’ and incomplete flowering are avoided and vase life is prolonged.

Dosage

Add 10ml of FLORISSANT 600 per liter water. Stir gently and use the solution for a maximum of 3 days.

Note: Always use clean buckets and clean tap water. Never mix an old solution with a fresh one. The product gives an acid solution which should be used in contact with acid-proof pumps, hoses, etc. only. Avoid any contact of the concentrate and the ready-to-use solution with metals.

Treatment

Prepare the FLORISSANT 600 solution just before harvesting. Place the freshly cut flowers in the FLORISSANT 600 solution for at least 4 hours. FLORISSANT 600 does not contain flower food, therefore keep treatment limited to a few days only.

Note: Flower Food is available in pails and consumer sachets.

Packing

FLORISSANT 600 is available from 10L to 200L units.

Precautions

FLORISSANT 600 should be stored in a dry and dark place. Keep the product cool but frost free. Avoid contacts from eyes and skin with the concentrated product.

FLORISSANT 600 is manufactured with the greatest care and is kept under constant laboratory surveillance. The manufacturer cannot be held liable if the product is applied incorrectly.
